Because the thermal envelope and windows are so well insulated a Passive House building is the most comfortable type of construction. Surfaces are radiantly neutral so even when it is extremely cold or warm outside occupants may not even be aware of it. There are no drafts, no swings in temperatures, and relative humidity stays constant all year long. The result is an even, tempered temperature throughout the home, which is a governing goal of the development of the standard. A quiet environment is achieved by both the reduction of internal mechanical systems and by the sound dampening qualities of the construction, especially the windows. The noise reduction of Passive House is particularly important in urban environments.

A Passive House feels different than a typical house. By combining the thermal comfort, quietness, fresh air and quality of construction and design all in one package the home is not so much a building, but an experience.
